2010 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Results - With Video!

Ducati's new Multistrada took the win this weekend in the 1205CC class. Ducati claims their new bike performs well as both an off road machine as well as an on road sportbike. Obviously those claims have now been validated with the chassis' first major win, taking both first and third place in the high displacement class. Ducati riders Greg Tracy and Alexander Smith took first and third respectively, with Buell's Walker Pew taking the second spot, after Alexander Smith crashed in the final stages of the race. Tracy, in an interview published by Ducati's press team, stated:

“That was an exciting week I’ve got to say. I want to thank Ducati for the opportunity they’ve given me - I was even pitted in front of Rhys Millen’s Unlimited Class ride - that was pretty cool! The Spider Grips Falkner-Livingston Multistrada was an amazing ride. Everyone did an awesome job and that motorcycle is crazy fast- it hit 137mph at one point! The bike worked great on the dirt and the asphalt."

Continuing on to say:  “When I was growing up, and all these factory teams would win races, I was sure they had these $100,000 engines and that was why they went so fast. I was wrong. This is my first year on a factory motorcycle and I’ll tell you that bike was box-stock. It had some carbon, and few tweaks and that was it.”

The smaller displacement, 750CC class saw another Ducati take the win. The smaller, older model Multistrada ridden by Gary Trachy actually finished 8 seconds faster than the large bike, which can obviously be attributed to the large, heavy 1200CC multistrada struggling on the dirt portions of the track compared to the much lighter 620 ridden by Trachy. Second and third place were both claimed by the Stuart Sinclair on his Aprilia, and Jeff Grace on his KTM. Notably, motocross icon and "old school" noteable, Malcom Smith finished in a very respectable 10th place.

The Honda continued to dominate the Dirt Bike classes, taking wins by Leland Sinclair in the 450CC Supermoto class, as well as Joe Prussiano in the regular 450CC class. Kawasaki took top honors in the 250CC class, with their machine being ridden by Davey Durelle.

As a contrast, the 4 wheeled unlimited class was won by Suzuki's Nobuhiro Tajima in a highly modified Suzuki SX4, reaching the top of the mountain in 10'11.490, coming close to the record set by him in 2007 at 10'01.41
