Ben Spies put an insane performance in on Saturday, qualifying on Pole and looking strong for the race. He took that pole position and turned it in to an unmatchable start to the race. He had a slight advantage going in to turn 1, with no rider showing him any pressure. Nicky Hayden, Andrea Dovizioso and the usual Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Rossi crowd followed him in. In a massively unfortunate turn of events, Nicky Hayden had his knee puck ripped off by a drainage cover. With the fact that he uses his knee to save the front end of the Ducati, it didnt allow him to ride nearly as strong as he had all weekend. 

Pedrosa continued to work his way up through the pack, by lap 4 he was in 2nd place and wanting to get around Spies. In the mean time, Marco Melandri crashed on lap 2, Colin Edwards came into the pits with tire issues, and Casey Stoner crashed as well, losing the front end. 

10 Laps in, Pedrosa finally got the pass he was looking for along the front straight. Jorge Lorenzo was back in 3rd, and really trying to work his way up front. Mika Kallio crashed following Pedrosa's crash, around 8 laps in. 

Thats the way things ended, with Pedrosa winning, followed by Spies in a career best 2nd place, and Lorenzo in 3rd, his worst finish of the season. 

Notably, Moto2 Americans Roger Lee Hayden and Kenny Noyes were taken out in a turn 2 crash, giving them bad results for the race finish, but Jason DiSalvo had his career on the line, and finished an impressive 9th place.
