Riders took to the historic Daytona International Speedway this weekend, both road racers and supercross riders put on a great show for the fans during Daytona's famous bike week. If you enjoy motorcycle racing of any sort, this is your weekend. From Road Racing to Flat Track, you had everything you could hope for in an action packed weekend.
The American Superbike series took to the track on both Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, with the absence of Mat Mladin, it just wasnt the same. There was lots of great racing to be had either way though. Yamaha Rider, and assumed favorite, Josh Hayes ended up having one too many off track excursions, and with a fried clutch, was relegated back to 14th place in the standings. Ben Bostrom, also one of the favorites just didnt seem to be on the ball and finished back in 18th. Its safe to say, all eyes were on former Suzuki and Kawasaki MotoGP Rider John Hopkins, who is now trying his hand at the AMA once again. From the outside, it seemed like a problem ridden weekend, and he didnt finish either race. The eventual race winner, was National Guard Suzuki newcomer Jake Zemke.

Race 2 Results:
Race two seemed like more of the same. With Hopkins dropping out and Zemke doing the double. It seemed like a much more eventful race, with the "come from behind" win by Zemke. Hayden seemed to do an amazing job holding off the pack, but in his words "The race was just a couple feet too long for me today". The big suprise for the race, was Bostrom, who seemed to come out of nowhere (on his now "privateer") Yamaha, for the last podium spot.

As far as the big show for the night - it was the Daytona 200. It really seemed like it could be anyones game. Eslick was the Polesitter, winning a new Rolex Daytona Watch. But then, with the pace so heated, Cardenas took the fastest warmup time before the race. Unfortunately for Cardenas, as the race began, he had a first lap crash which may have ruined any chance he may have had. The race was then Red Flagged and Restarted, without Cardenas. On the restart, it seemed Eslick may have to face a penalty for jumping the start. For some reason that is yet to be determined, the DMG decided against it, and let him race. Take from that what you will. Aquino, Rapp, Eslick, and Westby were in the lead pack. Aquino seemed to be the strongest, but unfortunately a bad pit stop put an end to his hopes of winning, with a huge fuel spill. As the race progressed, it eventually seemed like youngster Josh Herrins race to lose. Suprisingly, a name not common to challenging for AMA race wins, Westby, was putting up a great fight in second. As the race dwindled down to its finish, thats how it finished. With the Yamaha of Josh Herrin finishing in front, and the shocker of the weekend, Westby in 2nd. Full Results below:

Supercross
The Supercross crew never fails to put on a great show, and this was no Exception. Bike week was quite the buzz, with supercross being one of the highlights. Race fans were quite curious to see racing go down on a Ricky Carmichael designed track.
The Lites main saw Austin Stroupe take the holeshot, which was short lived thanks to Blake Baggetts attempt to take the lead during the first lap. As they battled for the lead, it gave Pourcel the opportunity to work his way up from 5th to try to put up a fight to his series rival Stroupe from 2nd place. Pourcel eventually got a pass to stick in a particularly rough section of a quickly deteriorating track. And he took the win, with Stroupe closely behind.

Supercross Main
Ryan Villipoto had a strong start, taking the holeshot over the field on lap one. Unfortunately, Grant Langston had a crash that left him lying in the middle of the track on the first lap. Race organizers felt it was in his best interest to stop the race in the name of Safety. The restart was equally as helpful for Villipoto, who put a gap on his current rivals, Hill and Dungey. Canard, Millsaps and Wey all put in their best effort to displace Villipoto, but as Villipoto is continuing to show comfort in leading Supercross Races, their efforts were in vain. Millsaps seemed to work his way out of the back of the pack into suprisingly joining with the top 5. Another suprise to the race was Windham, who after a poor start was back near 10th place. After much effort he worked his way up to 5th place. Unfortunately for everyone but Villipoto, nobody seemed as prepared for the super rough conditions, as the Outdoor champ Villipoto. He ended up handily taking the win.
